Davide Santon Style of Play
Sometimes in the world of sports there are those players who are so dominating, yet so young that many wonder if they have the ability to be able to become the very best in their particular sport. In Soccer, Davide Santon is emerging as one the most dominating players who can take on the best that the sport has to offer. This can be seen by looking no further than his style of play with his greatest asset being flexibility.
Whenever anyone is playing the 18 year old, the toughest challenge that they will face is his ability to effectively attack both the left and right side. This has forced defenders to always keep on guessing which way he could be coming at them, resulting in Santon being able to take on some of the most challenging opponents. Such as when he was lined up against FIFA Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo in round 16 of the Champions League, to force a scoreless draw between the two clubs. What aided Santon the most was his flexibility. This forced Ronaldo to constantly be watchful about which direction Santon could move which made Ronaldo play defensively.
A second major attribute of Santon is his overall personality. What makes Santon such an interesting player is the way he approaches the game through his personality, with him knowing about what he wants out of Soccer. A good example of this can be seen when Santon was just 16 and all of the different English Premier Club teams were aggressively courting him. Motivated by only the love of the game and a desire to play in Italy, Santon waited until he was 18 to begin playing professionally.
When you put the two elements of flexibility and personality together it is clear that Davide Stanton could be a force to be reckoned with in the future.
